Henderson Chamber presents panel, ‘Expanding Higher Education in Henderson’

Panel members to include Berkley, Patterson, Coffman

HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will present “Expanding Higher Education in Henderson,” a panel discussion on creating a diverse workforce for Southern Nevada, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at DragonRidge Country Club, 552 S Stephanie Street.

Panel members will include Bart Patterson, president of Nevada State College; Shelley Berkley, CEO and senior provost of Touro University; and Rene Coffman, president and co-founder of Roseman University of Health Sciences.

Questions will revolve around construction activity, workforce training and development, specific missions, roles in the higher education hierarchy and expansion plans.

“Higher education is a fundamental building block for a stronger community and economic development,” said Scott Muelrath, president and CEO for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. “These institutions are all committed to expanding their missions and roles in the Southern Nevada community. While each has significant construction plans underway, they will also be sharing their long-term growth plans and discussing their roles in workforce development, education and community service. Together, these institutions represent the unwavering commitment to higher education among the chamber, the city and the people of our community.”

Opening comments will be made by City of Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen, and the panel will be moderated by Rick Smith, president of RDS Properties.

Sponsored by Southwest Gas, the event is $40 for members and $60 for non-members. An additional $10 will be charged for walk-ins. The last day to RSVP is Tuesday, April 1. Cancellations are required by the RSVP deadline to receive refund. RSVP online at www.hendersonchamber.com.
